e-waste disposal

e-Waste should be dismissed appropriately. They must be recycled, reused, or refurbished. Always remember the mantra of RRR while dealing with discarded electronics. Consumer and business electronic products produce abundant e-waste.

The electronic devices can be categorized as:

  • Large household appliances
  • Small household appliances
  • IT equipment
  • Consumer electronics
  • Lamps and Luminaires
  • Toys
  • Tools
  • Medical devices
  • Monitoring and control instruments
  • Automatic dispensers
  • Mobile and other devices

A casual attitude towards e-Waste and their formal processing can induce major irreversible health issues.. Most of these gadgets contain lead, cadmium, beryllium, brominated flame retardants, and other harmful elements.

Irresponsible e-waste disposal in water bodies can contaminate the groundwater and soil directly. Numerous lives face major health threats due to the presence of carcinogens in soil and water.

Recycling is the most crucial process to control e-Waste disposal. It reduces the leakage of toxic materials and stop the degradation of our natural resources, which in turn can save lives. This exercise should be supported and adopted by all.

Redeploying existing items to other users in possible cases is also a good step towards reducing e-waste disposal. Pre-owned devices can be reused by the other person if the device is in a usable condition.

Refurbishing your mobile and other devices is also a good practice that can be adopted to minimize e-Waste as it enhances the possibility of renovating and reusing.

Responsible companies like GoEasyRepair have started initiatives by channelizing with registered recycler for the safe disposal of e-Waste.
